Taskforce Kiwi volunteers recognised at 2024 AWE Recognition Awards

On Tuesday, 1 October 2024, the recipients of the AWE Recognition Awards 2024 were announced in an online award giving ceremony.

An initiative of the Australasian Women in Emergencies Network, the AWE Recognition Awards formally recognises and honours women in emergency management and disaster resilience roles throughout Australasia.

Acknowledging the robust display of the skills, experience, and expertise across the 2024 award recipients, AWE President, Bridget Tehan reflected that collectively, the recipients:

“Paint a picture of the whole of emergency management and disaster resilience [capacity] across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific – one where everybody has a role to play, from leaders and front-line responders to technical experts, researchers, trainers, and volunteers.

The work of our 2024 Award recipients makes an important contribution to keeping all our communities safe, and we are thrilled to celebrate and honour them through the 2024 AWE Recognition Awards.”

Taskforce Kiwi is proud to share that two of the organisation’s leadership team members have been recognised, receiving Outstanding Awards in their respective categories of the AWE Recognition Awards 2024.

Michelle Gillman
National Volunteer Experience Manager

Outstanding in the Promoting Volunteerism category for her ongoing dedication to supporting volunteer communities through their experiences in volunteerism.

Malin Zachau
Medical Director

Outstanding in the Knowledge Development & Advancement category for her commitment to providing mentorship and advocacy, and advice in the medical field.

We would like to wish Michelle and Malin a warm congratulations on their well deserved recognition. We’re incredibly proud that both Michelle and Malin have been publicly recognised for their work, which is thoroughly deserved. They both continue to make a significant contribution to Taskforce Kiwi and our impact as a disaster relief NGO, ensuring we can support communities when they need it, while making sure our volunteers are safe and supported.
