Leap into action for disaster relief this February

To our supporters and friends,

As we reflect on our first domestic deployment to Auckland in January 2023, where a team of just 29 volunteers supported communities affected by the Auckland Anniversary Weekend floods; we acknowledge the significant growth and impact of Taskforce Kiwi one year on.

We’re humbled by the nearly 500 dedicated volunteers who have signed up to support communities in times of crisis. Little did we anticipate the tremendous impact our collective efforts would have on a global scale.

Time and again our volunteers have put their lives on hold to provide vital humanitarian aid and disaster relief to those in need. Both at home and abroad, our team has answered the call by providing direct assistance to thousands; many on their worst day.

The reality is that without financial support, our ability to deliver that direct assistance is severely limited. As volunteers we give our time for free, but effective disaster relief operations come at a cost. The demand for our services has never been greater but with multiple deployments currently taking place, our resources are stretched thin. This is where we need your help.

We have set a challenge to raise $29,000 by 29 February 2024 as part of our Leap for Disaster Relief campaign. That is $1,000 per day of this leap year February. To donate, go to www.givealittle.co.nz/org/taskforce-kiwi, and use the hashtag #LeapforDisasterRelief.

By supporting TFK, your impact is two-fold. Not only do you support our work in assisting disaster affected communities, but you also directly support our mission to provide a sense of purpose, identity and community to our volunteers, many of whom have dedicated their lives to serving their country and communities in the defence force and emergency services.

Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a significant impact. Join us this February in making a leap for disaster relief. Together, we can continue to build an effective and unique organisation that stands ready to support those who need it, when they need it.

Ngā mihi nui,

Richard Adams
